Kazan was in the list of leaders in the development of new technologies

The capital of Tatarstan was on the fifth line of the rating.

According to a study published by the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE), Kazan was included in the list of Russian cities that make the most significant contribution to the development of new technologies.


According to the document, more than half of the inventions in Russia are in 11 cities. The first and second place among the inventor cities took Moscow and St. Petersburg. In third place was Voronezh. Kazan took the fifth place in this rating, having passed ahead also Ufa.

The ranking also included Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, Perm, Samara and Tomsk. According to the researchers, Kazan specializes primarily in new semiconductors and polymers, fine and organic chemistry, as well as in the chemistry of base materials. The study was conducted on the basis of patent data for 2008-2016.
